Recognizing the interdependence between our business and our communities, Boeing strives to excel in global corporate citizenship by working with nonprofit organizations and other key community stakeholders to promote environmental activities addressing climate change issues. In fact, the environment is one of Boeing's five interdependent strategic investment areas, with support ranging from financial contributions to community volunteering amounting to thousands of hours of employees' own time each year.

Boeing invests in community-based programs across the globe that inspire environmental citizenship and educate citizens to minimize their impact on the environment; reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase recycling and energy efficiency; and protect and restore critical natural assets and habitat.

For example, last year the company's philanthropic efforts included grants for the preservation of endangered plant species with Botanic Gardens Conservation International and the heightening of environmental awareness through innovative student programs that reach the next generation of scientists and stewards. Boeing also supported sustainable engineering and environmental solutions through Engineers Without Borders - USA, which pairs the talents and skills of professional engineers with the energy and interests of college students to work closely with underserved communities and villages around the world to provide clean water and renewable energy sources.

These activities and the many more like them that Boeing supports each year underscore the company's clear strategy to take action as a responsible corporate citizen and neighbor.
